  • ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — It's going to be easier to fly between the City of Light and the City Beautiful.Direct flights started this week between Paris and Orlando.Norwegian Airlines started the weekly service on Monday between Charles de Gaulle Airport and Orlando International Airport.The Orlando-bound flights from Paris take place on Mondays. The return flights from Orlando leave Monday nights and arrive in Paris on Tuesdays.Previous direct service between Orlando and Paris was operated by Air France, but it ended in 2012.
  • Orlando International is one of four Florida airports receiving nearly $20 million in grant money from the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Drivers for Uber, Lyft, and other ridesharing companies will soon be able to take passengers to and from Orlando International Airport. The board of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) adopted new rules Wednesday that ease restrictions on the companies. The decision comes one month after Governor Rick Scott signed into law new standards for how ridesharing companies can operate across the state. It allows for locations at airports. It also requires insurance coverage and background checks on drivers.
  • LATAM Airlines will offer the first direct flights between Orlando and Rio de Janeiro starting in July. It’s to meet a growing demand for travel between both cities. More than 820,000 passengers traveled between Orlando and Brazil last year according to airport officials.
  • The City Beautiful is one of the most dangerous places in the US to be a pedestrian. A study by the group Smart Growth America put Orlando Kissimmee and Sanford 3rd on the list of most dangerous metro areas for pedestrians. Orlando's new transportation director Billy Hattaway tells Intersection he wants to change that.
  • For more than 20 years John Mica represented central Florida in Congress. He lost his re-election bid back in November, but that’s not keeping him out of Washington. 90.7’s Catherine Welch caught up with Mica to find out what he plans to do in the future.
  • Car-sharing is back in Orlando. Boston-based company Zipcar is making its official debut today by opening spaces at six locations downtown. Drivers will also be able to get their hands on a set of wheels in Disney Springs and Winter Park.
  • Drivers on I-4 westbound near the Formosa Avenue overpass likely will notice lane changes Monday morning. This is the second major traffic shift for the I-4 Ultimate project.
