  • Florida’s newly-chosen Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was in Orlando Friday to rally supporters. Gillum spoke at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades office as part of a Florida Democratic Party campaign rally Friday afternoon.
  • Congressman Ron DeSantis has won the Republican nomination for Florida’s governor and Democrat Andrew Gillum has won his party's primary. An endorsement from President Trump propelled DeSantis over the finish line while the race for the Democratic nomination came down to just a few thousand votes.

At 37 he’s a rising star in the Democratic party, and if elected he’d be the state’s first African American Governor. Gillum says the next governor will have to tackle challenges like climate change, improving the state’s healthcare and education systems, and creating good jobs for Floridians.
