ERIKA PULLEY-HAYES LEAVING 90.7 WMFE

ERIKA PULLEY-HAYES LEAVING 90.7 WMFE

DURING HER TENURE AS PRESIDENT AND CEO, PULLEY-HAYES INCREASED REACH OF LOCAL NEWS COVERAGE AND FORMED STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS TO STRENGTHEN WMFE’S SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY.

Erika Pulley-Hayes announced Tuesday that she will be leaving Community Communications Inc., which operates 90.7 WMFE and 89.5 WMFV, after serving since the beginning of 2020.

"Central Florida has been an incredible experience,” Pulley-Hayes said.  “I learned so much and met some amazing people who helped prepare me for this undeniable opportunity.  I am returning home, but Central Florida will always hold special significance for me."

Pulley-Hayes will continue in her position in Orlando for the next several weeks and work alongside the staff to ensure a smooth transition, before starting her new position as president and general manager of public radio news station WAMU in Washington D.C.

Pulley-Hayes worked at Corporation of Public Broadcasting before starting at WMFE. Under her leadership, WMFE successfully navigated the highs and lows of a global pandemic to steer the station to safety all while building out the newsroom and adding a managing editor to the team to boost continued local coverage expansion.

Community Communications’ Board of Trustees is working with Pulley-Hayes to define what the nonprofit media company will be looking for in its next leader and to start a nationwide search.  Until a new leader is hired, Robert Muszynski, Community Communications’ Director of Finance & Administration, will act as the interim operations leader under the guidance of the Board of Trustees.

"We appreciate Erika’s leadership and dedication to the station especially during these recent difficult times for us all. We are glad to have had her leadership and wish her the best in her new leadership role with WAMU," said Donna Mackenzie, WMFE|WMFV Board of Trustees' Chair.
