  • Last year Miles Mulrain Jr. started a series of monthly meetings to talk about solutions to crime in Pine Hills. Mulrain and Emery James of the non profit Let Your Voice Be Heard say other cities are starting to take notice of their approach. And Captain Carlos Torres of the Orange County Sheriff's Office talks about the law enforcement initiative Operation R.I.S.E.

  • Apopka and Pine Hills residents are fed up with violent crime. After a spate of shootings last year, faith leaders and others called for a stop to the violence. A task force was formed, and last week they released their report. On Intersection we talk about what the task force found, and what it's going to take to curb crime in the area.
  • Just days after a mother was shot at a gas station in Pine Hills, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and Orlando Police Chief John Mina are pledging new ways to keep that community safe. The announcement involves targeted crime reduction and collaboration with pastors and other officials. Pine Hills has seen a slight increase in gun violence over the past few weeks. One of the more recent shootings resulted in the death of a pregnant woman.
