Florida’s opioid epidemic triggered a public health emergency. In Volusia and Flagler Counties the number of newborn babies detoxing from opioids has doubled in the last five years and at any one time there are one to three cases where newborns are suffering symptoms associated with opioid withdrawal.

A street pill that looks like it came straight from the pharmacist is causing deaths in Orlando. State law enforcement officials discovered the so-called super pill recently, and they are warning residents to keep from buying pain killers on the black market.
