While we all sit on our hands and wait to see if either the legislature or the general-election voting public in 2016 will actually legalize medicinal marijuana, the wayward weaving of the already approved Charlotte’s Web strain of cannabis – the legislature approved the low-THC for children in 2014 – continues to be a source of regulatory confusion. Charlotte’s Web meeting comes to Orlando this week


State officials are meeting in Orlando this week to hash out new rules for a form of medical marijuana that doesn’t get you high. The so-called Charlotte’s Web bill was passed over summer, and the Florida Department of Health was supposed to have rules in place by January 1 to implement the law. But now a judge’s ruling on a controversial provision of the regulations is causing a do-over.

Judge to rule on low-THC medical marijuana suit


Administrative Law Judge W. David Watkins has until this Friday to decide if the Florida Department of Health overstepped its authority with proposed rules to implement low-THC medical marijuana. The Charlotte’s Web bill would grant five nurseries the right to grow, process and sell medical marijuana to patients in Florida beginning Jan. 1, 2015.
