A concert version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Mikado” takes the stage at Orlando Rep Friday, with an associated visual art opening on Monday, August 5th, a few days in advance of the show.

Theresa Smith-Levin is executive director of Central Florida Vocal Arts and Opera del Sol, two of the groups behind the production.

She tells 90.7's Nicole Darden Creston there’s a very good reason she chose to focus on the music of “The Mikado” as opposed to its traditional theatrical components.
