Spotlight: National Honey Bee Day, Grape Stomp, and Adults-Only Science Night
Mark Baratelli, publisher of The Daily City is taking a well-deserved break. WMFE’s Bill Johnson is filling in for Mark.
A world without bees is literally a world without fruit, vegetables, and nuts. And the lack of honey would be the least of humanity’s problems, and that’s saying something since I make Mead! Let’s do something about it and celebrate National Honey Bee Day at Leu Gardens Saturday from 10am-3pm. You can learn all about Bees from a Master Beekeeper. See a working hive and sample honey. Honey and bee related items will be for sale including beekeeping gear. Regular garden admission is required, find out more at LeuGardens.org
If you’re of a certain age… you can’t talk about a grape stomping event without envisioning the classic “I Love Lucy” grape stomping- than grape fighting scene. Let’s hope things don’t get out of hand at the 25th Annual Harvest Grape Stomp at Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards in Clermont taking place all this weekend. The festival features grape stomping competitions, live music, and wine tastings and tours. More information can be found at lakeridgewinery.com
And finally, have you ever found yourself at Orlando Science Center waiting to hop-on the earth quake machine, but a gaggle of children are taking forever and have no concept of the appropriate amount of time to spend on a single exhibit!? Well, I have. This Saturday enjoy the Science Center without those pesky kids! It’s Adults-Only Science Night Live Saturday night from 8 to 11:30. Enjoy drinks, panel discussions and exhibits. Tickets are limited and available at osc.org
And as Mark Baratelli always says, and I agree, Orlando is Wonderful
