Spotlight: Florida Prize, Drunk Spelling Bee and Musical at Mad Cow Theatre

10 of the most progressive and exciting artists working in the State today have been invited to show their works in the Orlando Museum of Art during the 5th Annual Orlando Museum of Art Florida Prize in Contemporary Art Exhibit. Meet all 10 artists and hear them speak about their works during a panel discussion at the museum Saturday 11am at Orlando Museum of Art.

The United States Pole Sports Federation is hosting a 2 hour children’s pole workshop. Your kids can learn some new moves including dynamic drops. A choreographed routine will be taught using the moves and filmed for a video. The children’s pole workshop is Saturday 1:30-3:30 at Lotus Fitness Studio.

Drunk Spelling Bee- The name says it all. For a nominal charge, contestants receive 2 drinks each round for as long as you stay alive. Last one standing gets a prize. Space is limited to 40 participants. The pre-hangover fun takes place Saturday at 8 at the Abbey Bar in Deland.

Dad’s Gay and I’m a Lesbian the musical ‘Fun Home’ is a tragicomedy about Alison, a lesbian, and her closeted father. We see her as a child, teen and adult, deal with her life. The musical pairs contemporary music with a heart-wrenching and hilarious script. Fun Home runs Saturday and Sunday at Mad Cow Theatre.
