Analysis: Orlando native Pierson steps away from Secret Service to save Obama

Julia Pierson’s resignation as director of the secret service saves President Barack Obama the embarrassment of having to take action.
That’s according to Stetson University political science professor T. Wayne Bailey.
Pierson tendered her resignation Wednesday.
“The lack of confidence in the Secret Service, given its vital role, would demand that someone experiencing these numbers of difficulties would offer her resignation.”
Pierson is an Orlando native.
She graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1981 and worked at the Orlando Police Department until joining the Secret Service two years later.
Pierson was promoted to the Presidential Protective Division in 1985 and served on security details for presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
