WMFE & WMFV Announce Weekend Program Change

October 1, 2021

Effective Saturday, October 2, 2021, 90.7 WMFE and 89.5 WMFV will implement a change to its Saturday programming schedule to introduce the much-anticipated NPR show Code Switch & Life Kit at 11 a.m.

A full on-air schedule is available at wmfe.org/schedules

What is Code Switch & Life Kit?
These are two programs from NPR that originated as podcasts. NPR is now presenting them together as an hourlong radio broadcast. Code Switch features journalists of color tackling the subject of race head-on. The show explores how race impacts every part of society. In 2020, Code Switch was awarded Apple Podcasts’ first-ever “Show of the Year” award. Life Kit offers tips and guidance from experts on a variety of topics, such as workplace microaggressions, saving money and more. This program will replace Ask Me Another on Saturdays at 11 a.m.

Why make these schedule changes now?
NPR’s Ask Me Another has ceased production. The final episode was broadcast on September 25, 2021. To fill that void station leadership consulted with WMFE’s Community Advisory Board to source a replacement program.

Why are we carrying Code Switch & Life Kit?
WMFE & WMFV are committed to providing programming that appeals to the wide range of communities and voices that make up Central Florida, The Villages, Leesburg and The Golden Triangle. Code Switch is an award-winning program from NPR that illuminates important conversations and context around race and identity. NPR has paired Code Switch with the Life Kit podcast to present a one hour show that combines compelling ideas with practical advice.
