The annual downtown Orlando tree lighting ceremony is tonight to 9 with Mayor Dyer lighting the 72 foot tree, live stage show by Encore Cast Performing Arts, a shopping village, food truck yard and… school children singing Christmas carols… It’s all happening RIGHT NOW til 9 at the Lake Eola amphitheater.

Downtown South, the large swath of businesses just south of downtown has changed its name to SODO. Now we just need “the north quarter,” the large swath of overpriced rental apartments two good restaurants and one new market to change its name to NODO. Eh? … Anyways SODO is hosting a big holiday party free to the public with Santa, beer garden, bounce house, train rides, live music and choruses, a holiday shopping market and of course, aerial yoga. Sunday 2 to 6 at the SODO shopping center.

Drink great local beers, browse vendors selling local handmade goods and adopt a dog? at the Orlando Brewing Christmas Market Saturday 2 to 6 at Orlando Brewing.

And finally, for those old people who don’t like shopping, wonderful holiday memories or school children singing Christmas carols… The I love the Nineties tour is in town with Salt-N-Pepa, Coolio, Tone Loc, All-4-One, Young MC, Kool Moe Dee and many more at the Amway Center Saturday night. Google I love the nineties Orlando for more info.
