Tonight is the Opening Night Party for Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s production of “The Merry Wives of Windsor” done in the style of a 1950s sitcom at 6:15.Before the show, enjoy free light appetizers from Cocina 214 and dessert bites from Rapsodic Bakery (they’re vegan). The composer J.S. Bach was often paid for his work in beer. That’s more than my mom gives me for mowing her stupid lawn. And it’s big. Ugh. Join the Bach Festival Society and Cask & Larder brew masters for the release of a limited-edition beer brewed for the 80th Annual Bach Festival, Brandenburger Bock, Saturday at 3 at Cask & Larder. There will be German music, food for purchase from their regular menu, and the beer, a bock beer which comes closest to resembling the beer of Bach’s time.

A comedy called Potted Potter, in which all seven books in the Harry Potter canon are compacted into a comedy 70 minutes in length runs now through February 15th at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

Local theatre legend Michael Wanzie is staring in the Philip Seymore Hoffman roll in Doubt,a Catholic high school priest’s battle for truth and personal integrity, this weekend and next at the Garden Theatre.
