Journalist ISIS Threatens to Kill Next is a UCF Alumnus

A White House National Security Council names University of Central Florida alumnus Steven Sotloff as the other American in a video showing ISIS beheading U.S. journalist James Foley.

Spokesperson Caitlin Hayden says in a statement, “The US Intelligence Community has analyzed the recently released video showing US citizens James Foley and Steven Sotloff. We have reached the judgment that this video is authentic. We will continue to provide updates as they are available.”

UCF officials say Sotloff attended the school from 2002 to 2004. He’s from south Florida and has been freelancing for Time magazine and The Christian Science Monitor.

Members of the ISIS extremist group have threatened to kill Sotloff next.
