Invitation For RNC To Move To FL; Reopening State Universities; Restoring Voting Rights

President Donald Trump is threatening to move the Republican National Convention out of Charlotte this summer unless North Carolina Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper can assure “full attendance” will be allowed. Cooper has said North Carolina is guided by public health and nothing else.

That prompted Florida Republicans to make a bid for it. We spoke to State Senator Joe Gruters, who is Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, and POLITICO Political Reporter Marc Caputo about whether the GOP gathering might end up being moved to the Sunshine State.

Reopening Plan for Florida’s State Universities

State universities have a blueprint for bringing students and faculty back to campus this fall. Marshall Criser, Chancellor of the State University System of Florida, and POLITICO Education Reporter Andrew Atterbury discussed the plan.

Voting Rights Restoration for Florida Citizens with a Prior Felony Conviction

Earlier this week, a federal judge ruled that residents with a prior felony conviction do not have to pay all fines and fees before registering to vote. However, Gov. Ron DeSantis later announced that he plans to appeal the decision. Jimmy Midyette, a former ACLU Attorney who is running for Duval County Clerk of Courts, and WLRN Reporter Danny Rivero joined us for a closer look.
