This year’s Ebola outbreak has been the largest in history. The disease has hit hard in West Africa with outbreaks in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, and isolated cases in the U.S. have garnered intense media coverage and sparked a political firestorm with differing opinions on how to deal with Ebola from Congress, the White House, and at the state level.
Dr. Terry Howard is a staff counselor with UNICEF. Dr. Howard is from Orlando and is a graduate of the University of Central Florida. He has spent time in Nigeria, which also had Ebola cases but in October was declared Ebola-free. He counseled Ebola patients, their families, and neighbors. He joins the program to talk about his experience in West Africa, and the U.S. response to the outbreak.
