ABOUT DIANE REHM:
For more than 35 years, Diane Rehm has hosted her award-winning public affairs and call-in program, The Diane Rehm Show, which features lively and thoughtful conversations with many of the world’s most distinguished people.
Each week, more than 2.2 million listeners across the country tune in to The Diane Rehm Show, which has grown from a local morning call-in show to one of public broadcasting’s most popular programs. It has been called one of the most interesting talk shows in the country, according to Newsweek magazine. National Journal says Rehm is “the class act of the talk radio world.”
In 2010, Diane Rehm won a Peabody Award, widely considered among the most prestigious and selective prizes in electronic media, for her more than 30 years in public broadcasting. In 1998, Rehm’s career nearly ended because of spasmodic dysphonia, a neurological voice disorder that causes strained, difficult speech. Rehm sought treatment, returned to the show, and called attention to the condition.
After an incredible run hosting her morning radio show, Rehm announced in December that she is considering her plans for the future. She will continue to host The Diane Rehm Show at least through the 2016 presidential elections. She is contemplating a variety of options after leaving the program, including a speaker series, or possibly a new show or podcast.
Rehm is the author of four autobiographical books, including her most recent book, On My Own (Deckle Edge 2016), in which she speaks out about the long drawn-out death (from Parkinson’s) of her husband of fifty-four years, and of her struggle to reconstruct her life without him.
Rehm is a native Washingtonian who began her radio career in 1973 as a volunteer producer for WAMU 88.5, the NPR Member Station in Washington, D.C. Visit drshow.org for more information.
What Listeners Say:
“Diane asks all the right questions without the distractions. She paints a picture better than any photograph or video clip on television ever could.”
“The depth of discussion, the fact that you (Diane) allow speakers time to make a point without rushing them to conclusion, as well as lively presentation of disparate points of view, make your show the finest public affairs shows on the air.”
You can hear the show weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon on 90.7 WMFE.
