Batterson to Appeal in Expressway Authority Corruption Case

An attorney for a former Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority board member says she’ll appeal his conviction on bribery-related charges. A jury found Scott Batterson guilty Wednesday. Batterson was convicted of two second-degree felony charges of bribery and solicitation for receiving unlawful compensation. He faces 30 years in prison. Batterson is accused of offering a consultant a multi-million dollar contract on the condition the consultant hire Batterson’s friends. He was appointed to the authority by Gov. Rick Scott. The now-defunct Orlando-Orange Expressway Authority was plagued by corruption allegations. Batterson also is charged with violating the state’s Sunshine Law in the ouster of the authority’s former director. Former state Rep. Chris Dorworth faces the same charge. Vixen Bar Officer Involved Shooting

The night shouldnt have ended this way. It was hip-hop night at Vixen Bar on Aug. 18. There was a DJ playing, and an eyewitness account published on Orlando Culture Shock says it was packed for a Monday night. Sometime after midnight, a 23-year-old named Kody Roach entered the bar. According to police reports, he was wasted and belligerent, bumping into people spilling drinks. And he had a gun.
