What better place to spend the first weekend of spring… then Christmas? Add a little bluegrass music, tell me it’s free and I’m there! The Fort Christmas Bluegrass Festival is taking place Saturday and Sunday from 10-4 at Historic Fort Christmas. There will be plenty of Bluegrass music along with a craft fair, barbecue and an antique tractor display.
The really big giant huge no parking whatsoever annual Winter Park Art Festival is taking place all weekend, flooding Winter Park with more people than it ever sees all year. Along with the usual art vendors, juried art shows and questionable food choices they have a beer garden! And don’t worry about parking like I said earlier… There are Free Sunrail trips to and from the Art Festival. Woot! And if you prefer to peddle your way there, they even have a complimentary bike valet!
This is your last weekend to see the musical “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at the Athens Theatre in Downtown Deland. Based on the Peanuts characters created by cartoonist Charles Schulz, the musical depicts an average day in the life of Charlie Brown, a bald sad man with no friends and a dog that hates him. Sounds like me minus the dog and the no friends because I have more friends that Winter Park will have people in it this weekend… for real. The performance takes Place Saturday evening at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at Athens Theatre in Downtown Deland.
