Atsumi Puts A Contemporary Spin On Traditional Japanese Drums

Taiko drums have a place in Japanese culture that goes beyond music. Traditionally they were used in religious ceremonies and festivals. 

Atsumi Foreman performs taiko at Epcot and has her own ensemble– Zero Taiko. She says she approaches performing with a respect for the traditions of taiko,  but with her own spin on entertainment.
