A large lineup of speakers from all walks of life and professions deliver entertaining and thought provoking presentations in an evening of learning called PechaKucha. However, different from durge-like slothy learning events during which a speaker goes on and on with no care placed towards pace, PechaKucha keeps the speed and energy alive by limiting its speakers to 5 minute talks punctuated by a maximum of 20 slides forwarding behind them on a large screen every 20 seconds... PechaKucha takes place tonight at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

A self-guided walk thru of the Maitland Art Center’s newest exhibit “Fiber” mixes with live music, literature readings, a cash bar and socializing to create a relaxed and intelligent evening called Culture Pop. The popping takes place tonight 6 to 9 at Maitland Art Museum.

A right-wing bigot has to rely on his African-American lesbian neighbor to save his life during the stage play “Bigot” playing tonight at 7:30 at the Orlando Shakespeare theatre.

Through extraordinary photographs, disassembled objects and fascinating videos, a traveling exhibit owned by the Smithsonian “Things Come Apart” reveals the inner workings of common, everyday possessions. Images of dozens of objects explore how things are designed and made and how technology has evolved over time. For example, the individual components of a record player, a Walkman, and an iPod illustrate the technical changes in sound reproduction over the years, and images of the parts of a mechanical and digital watch demonstrate different approaches to timepiece engineering. The show runs all weekend at the History Center.

And as always hash tag Orlando is wonderful.
