Two Central Florida law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty this year are being memorialized.

Police say Markeith Loyd shot and killed Orlando Police Department Lt. Debra Clayton back in January. Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Norman Lewis died in a traffic accident during the pursuit.

Now, Clayton and Lewis are being memorialized with portraits that will be hung at police headquarters. Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said the portraits capture the essence of the fallen officers.

“They both have smiles on their faces, which is the caring they each displayed," Demings said. "They were very caring and loving human beings. They’re really good portraits.”

Art supply store Sam Flax commissioned artist Kevin Wood to do the portraits.
