On the day the new Star Wars movie premiers in theaters, NASA scientists released images of a new star that looks like a giant lightsaber in the sky.

And while light sabers may be a thing of science fiction, 90.7’s Brendan Byrne spoke with Hubble Space Telescope scientist Jennifer Wiseman about the not-so-science-fiction reasons behind the stellar phenomenon.

Brendan covers space news for WMFE, everything from rocket launches to the latest scientific discoveries in our universe. He hosts WMFE's weekly radio show and podcast "Are We There Yet?" which explores human space exploration.
