On the day the new Star Wars movie premiers in theaters, NASA scientists released images of a new star that looks like a giant lightsaber in the sky.

And while light sabers may be a thing of science fiction, 90.7’s Brendan Byrne spoke with Hubble Space Telescope scientist Jennifer Wiseman about the not-so-science-fiction reasons behind the stellar phenomenon.

Brendan Byrne is WMFE's Assistant News Director, managing the day-to-day operations of the WMFE newsroom, editing daily news stories, and managing WMFE's internship program.

Byrne also hosts WMFE's weekly radio show and podcast "Are We There Yet?" which explores human space exploration.
