The Orlando Philharmonic Presents its opening night concert Saturday night at 8:30 at the Bob Carr Theatre. This season opener is led by Mexican-born Alondra De La Parra, a fast rising young conductor and will feature the Symphony number 1 by Mahler along with music by Mozart and Mexican composer Arturo Marquez. Maestro De La Parra is one of five international finalists in the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra’s international music director search.

The Baltimore Waltz is being performed by the UCF School of performing arts this weekend. The Comedy- Drama is a love note from playwright Paula Vogel to her brother who recently passed away from AIDS- related complications. In this very personal journey. Anna and her brother embark on an adventurous trip to Europe to flee the diagnosis of Acquired Toilet Disease, a fatal disease contracted by the sister from a school bathroom. The play is will be performed Saturday night at 8 and Sunday afternoon at 2pm and is running to September 28th.

The Albin Polasek Museum in Winter Park is the place to be this weekend.  They are running a Two-Day Botanical Illustration Workshop Saturday and Sunday 10-2. This hands-on workshop will give you the tools to create botanical illustrations and is taught by one of our exhibiting artists.

Bill joined WMFE in September 2008. He started his radio career at WFCS at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain Connecticut where he hosted a weekly comedy/variety show and gospel and blues programs. Bill then spent 10 years at WNPR in Hartford, Connecticut, where he worked in radio operations and hosted the evening classical music. During this time he also spent two years working overnights and weekends at WTIC 1080 News in Hartford were he anchored the local newscasts, filed stories for CBS radio and prepared news stories for the morning drive.

Bill lives in Deltona and enjoys travel, motorcycling, restaurants and live music.
