WMFE is Central Florida's primary provider of NPR programming on 90.7 FM and Classical Music on 90.7 HD2. Part of the community since 1965, WMFE focuses on providing quality national and local news and programming. We inspire and empower all Central Floridians to discover, grow and engage within and beyond their world.

You like to have fun and love public radio. We do too!

Young Friends of 90.7 WMFE is an initiative launched in 2016 by 90.7 WMFE to engage and connect with young (and young-at-heart) public radio listeners throughout the Central Florida community.

Our group is part of NPR Generation Listen, a movement to connect the next generation of public radio listeners to their local stations. We look forward to exchanging ideas and having smart conversations online, over the air and at events.

Current Projects

ContinuED School Supply Drive: Young Friends of 90.7 WMFE invites you to participate in our school supply drive to provide vital supplies to students in need throughout the school year. We have partnered with A Gift For Teaching, which has distributed nearly $108 million worth of supplies to more than 300 schools since 1998. Details: www.wmfe.org/supplydrive

Past Projects

Hold on to Summer Playlist: Summer may be winding down, but we’re not ready to stop listening to our favorite summer tunes! Young Friends of 90.7 WMFE has put together the “Hold on to Summer playlist” on Spotify, featuring Central Florida bands and musicians. What did your summer sound like? Details: www.wmfe.org/summerplaylist

Young Friends of 90.7 WMFE T-shirt Contest: Young Friends of 90.7 WMFE asked local artists to design a T-shirt that embodies the theme “Be Radio Active” for a special edition 90.7 WMFE T-shirt. The prize was $500 cash OR on-air spots plus a web banner worth $1,000. The shirts will be available in coordination with our fall membership drive. Details: www.wmfe.org/shirt #BeRadioActive

Annual ZipOdes: What makes your Central Florida neighborhood great? In honor of National Poetry Month (April), 90.7 WMFE wants you to pay tribute to the least poetic definition of where you live: The ZIP Code. Each ZIP code is five numbers, so each “ZipOde” is five lines-the number of words in each line is determined by the number in your particular zip code. Select ZipOde poems will be read on the air and at a ZipOde Throwdown at the end of April. Details: www.wmfe.org/zipodes
