Intersection | Former Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles Wells
June 18th, 2013 | WMFE- One month after the hotly contested 2000 US presidential election, the Florida Supreme Court ordered a statewide manual recount of votes. Just one day later the US Supreme Court overturned that decision, ensuring the election of republican George W Bush as the 43rd president of the United States, and ending the presidential hopes of his rival, Vice President Al Gore.

June 4, 2013 WMFE - The trial of George Zimmerman begins June 10th in Sanford Florida. Zimmerman is facing second degree murder charges for the killing of seventeen year old Trayvon Martin in February of last year. Zimmerman says he acted in self defense when he shot the unarmed African American teenager. 90.7's Matthew Peddie speaks with Orlando Sentinel columnist Darryl Owens about the social impact of the incident and the effect of the upcoming trial on the city of Sanford and Central Florida's black community. Also, 90.7's Amy Green traveled to Sanford's historic African American community of Goldsboro to speak to the residents there about their thoughts on the upcoming trial.

May 28, 2013 WMFE - Classical music fans in Central Florida have a choice of orchestras if they want to see a live performance. 90.7's Matthew Peddie speaks with Aaron Collins, Artistic Director of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, and Christopher Wilkins, Music Director of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, about the state of classical music in Central Florida and the direction their organizations are heading. Also, May is Asian Pacific American Heritage month. The Asian population is the fastest growing in the United States and Orlando is home to a thriving community of Vietnamese restaurants and businesses. To talk about that community Matthew Peddie is joined by Thomas Nguyen, former host of Radio Saigon, a Vietnamese radio station broadcast through Central Florida.
