December 10th, 2013 | WMFE - The fundraising war is heating up in the race for the Governor's Mansion, but one month after announcing his candidacy, Democratic challenger Charlie Crist is trailing Governor Rick Scott in campaign contributions. 90.7's political commentators Dick Batchelor and Lou Frey weigh in on the 2014 Gubernatorial race and other political issues impacting Florida.
Also, last week a 15-year-old West Orange High School student was shot during an altercation with another student as school was letting out. 90.7's Matthew Peddie speaks with Orange County Public School District Superintendent Barbara Jenkins about the official response to the incident and what the district is doing to promote school safety.

December 3rd, 2013 | WMFE - The Orange County Public School system identified seventy-two hundred homeless students in the district last school year. Christina Savino, the school district's Homeless Education Liaison, is working to identify and provide assistance to these students and their families. 90.7's Matthew Peddie speaks with Cristina about how school districts are coping with a growing homeless student population.
Also, Seminole County has joined 16 other counties to appeal a ruling won by online travel companies about the taxes they pay on the hotel rooms they sell. Matthew Peddie speaks with UCF's Rosen College of Hospitality Management Dean Abraham Pizam about the debate and the lawsuit.

His new book, Met Her on the Mountain, chronicles twenty years of investigative reporting in a quest to solve the murder of Federal Anti Poverty worker Nancy Dean Morgan in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. 90.7's Matthew Peddie talks to him about her story and how he went about writing his first true-crime book.
