Thruster Problems Delay the Dragon

March 01, 2013 | WMFE - A problem with the Dragon spacecraft has delayed its arrival to the International Space Station.

Shortly after the spacecraft reached its orbit, the system showed that only one of the thruster pods needed to accelerate and control the spacecraft was working.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk says the problem might have been caused by blockage in the oxidizer pressure, which they have been able to clear.

Musk says once the thrusters are working they continue on to the International Space Station.

This is the second of twelve cargo missions that the private company SpaceX will send to the ISS under a contract with NASA.

NASA and SpaceX officials say the spacecraft won’t reach the ISS until Sunday- at the earliest.
