UCF Drops Out-of-State Tuition for Select Business Programs
December 6th, 2013 | WMFE - Some University of Central Florida students will soon pay less for certain business degrees.
UCF is in the process of doing away with out-of-state tuition rates in four programs. Starting in January, everyone studying for an Executive MBA, a Professional MBA, a Professional MS in Real Estate or a Professional MS in Management will pay the lower Florida resident rate.
Paul Jarley, Dean of UCF’s College of Business, says the simpler, lower fee structure will also give a break to professionals who are new to Florida.
“Students pay the full cost of those programs,” says Jarley. “Given that, and given that there are no state resources involved in those programs, we felt that a distinction between in- and out-of-state students didn’t make much sense, so we’ve asked the Board of Trustees to eliminate the out-of-state tuition portion of that, and just have all of the students pay the same tuition.”
Jarley says increasing competition from other MBA programs – mostly those based online – also played a part in the decision to drop the price.
After the new tuition rates receive official approval for a January roll-out, non-resident MBA students will pay the in-state rate of about $50,000 – more than $30,000 less than they’re paying now.
