State Democratic Leader Blames Republicans for Delay in Health Care Plans

December 5, 2012 | WMFE - The federal government has set a deadline of December 14th for the state to respond with a plan for setting up health care exchanges and dealing with the expansion of Medicaid. Legislative leaders have requested an extension from the federal Department of Health and Human Services.

90.7’s Tom Parkinson discussed the issue with the state House Democratic Minority Leader, Representative Perry Thurston of Ft. Lauderdale.

Thurston says Florida has had at least two years to prepare for the impending implementation of the federal law and, he says, there was no good reason to delay until now to get started.
