Zimmerman Attorney to Address Gun Rights Advocates
September 28, 2012 | WMFE - The Gun Rights Policy Conference is meeting in Orlando this weekend. It's the 27th annual conference sponsored by the Seattle-based Second Amendment Foundation. The conference will feature a speech by Orlando attorney Mark O'Mara.
O’Mara is representing former crime watch volunteer George Zimmerman on second degree murder charges in the shooting of an unarmed teenager in Sanford.
Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty claiming he was defending himself when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin in February.
Organizers say other speakers will discuss what group members say is an ongoing assault on 2nd Amendment Constitutional rights. The group points to gun bans in various cities and legislation tightening regulations on sales at gun shows.
Forums will also feature discussions on the 2012 Presidential race and the implications of a continuing increase in the number of private citizens buying and carrying firearms.
The Gun Rights Policy Conference starts today and continues through Sunday the Hyatt Regency at Orlando International Airport.
