Robert German called for backup after he stopped two people walking near Conroy Windermere road early Saturday morning.

Officers who responded found him bleeding from a gunshot wound.  After hearing gunfire, they discovered the bodies of 18 year old Brandon Goode and 17 year old Alexandria Hollinghurst nearby.

They’re believed to have committed suicide.

German was taken to ORMC but could not be revived.

Goode and Hollinghurst are officially considered suspects in German's shooting. German was wearing a body camera when he stopped the two teenagers, but the camera was not switched on at the time.

The teenagers had been reported missing endangered by Polk County Authorities.

A funeral service was held at Northland Church in Longwood this morning where German was remembered as a happy and proud member of the town’s Police Department.

“More importantly, he came to work every single day happy and proud to work for the Windermere Police Department.  I couldn’t ask for any more,” said Windermere Police Chief Dave Ogden.

German will be buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sanford.

Windermere residents have tied blue ribbons around their mail boxes and light poles to remember German.

The town will also hold a candlelight memorial service Friday night.

German is the second law enforcement officer to be fatally shot in West Orlando in the last two months.

In early February, Orange County Deputy Jonathan Scott Pine was shot to death while investigating a string of car burglaries, one mile from where Officer German was killed.
