ORLANDO — The NPR Board of Directors has elected LaFontaine E. Oliver, president and general manager of WMFE in Orlando, to fill one of two new Member Director positions on the board.

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve both NPR and my station colleagues at such an exciting time in our industry that is so full of potential for innovation and broader service to our communities," Oliver said.

This election is a result of the recent amendments to the NPR Bylaws expanding the NPR Board of Directors to a total of 23 directors. This expansion includes two new Member Director seats, which are now filled by Oliver and Goli Sheikholeslami, president and CEO of WBEZ in Chicago, and four new Public Director seats.

"We look forward to the wealth of experience and diversity of perspectives that LaFontaine and Goli will bring to the NPR Board," said Roger LaMay, Chair of the NPR Board.

The position filled by Oliver has an initial partial term ending in November 2016. He is eligible to serve two full three-year terms at the end of his initial partial term.
