For brand new Florida voters- today’s the last day to register to vote.

Registration forms have to be postmarked by October 6th- or delivered to the supervisor of elections office by 5pm Monday afternoon.

Orange County supervisor of elections Bill Cowles explains registration forms are available online or at county supervisors of elections websites.

But he says- today's deadline is just for people who haven't voted in Florida before.

“Monday October the 6th is the last day for somebody who has never registered to vote in the state of Florida to get registered to vote," says Cowles.

"That’s what we call the book closing,” he says.

Cowles says for those who’ve already registered but need to update their address- that can be done all the way up until and including election day.

He says the simplest way to do it, though, is by calling the supervisor of elections office.

Cowles says it’s important to make sure voter details are up to date soon, because sample ballots are mailed out on the 16th.
