Governor's Debate Mirrors Ad Campaign

govracefeature-3-2

Expect more of the campaign ad style attacks in the next debate between Governor Rick Scott and challenger Charlie Crist.

The first of three gubernatorial debates last Friday was hosted by Telemundo in Miami. Crist and Scott will face each other again on Wednesday

The debates come just weeks before the general election in what has been one of the most negative and expensive campaigns.

University of Central Florida Political Science Professor Aubrey Jewett says the debate will likely be a reflection of the candidates’ ad campaigns.

“The race has just been so negative and has had such a negative tone for months and months now that, although I hope they’ll talk about policy, I think we’ll get a heavy dose of the personal attacks,” says Jewett.

Scott and Crist are neck-and-neck in the polls.

A third party candidate, Adrian Wyllie, is taking legal action to try and force his inclusion in the debate.
