Gardens, Dinner and Electronic Dance Music

Mead Garden Plant Sale, meadgarden.org
Mead Garden Plant Sale, meadgarden.org

Mead Botanical Garden’s annual fall plant sale aka “GROWvember” will have annuals, perennials, vegetables, succulents, shrubs, tropicals and Pine straw. There will also be workshops on topics like “How to mount an air plant on wooden plaque” and “how to make a fairy garden” and my favorite “How to make a worm cafe.” The Mead Botanical Garden Fall plant show is Saturday, 9 to 5 at Mead Gardens in Winter Park.

Saturday night put on your classy clothes for dinner, cocktails and dancing at the 8th annual Peacock Ball 6 to 11 at the Winter Park Racquet Club. The ticket price is the equivalent of 40 pumpkin spice lattes no whip, so be rich.

And finally, if you’re into electronic dance music, aka EDM, and you want to see thousands of folks dancing and twerking on the grounds of one of the rare sites in America on which Martin Luther King spoke, get to the annual Electric Daisy Carnival this Saturday and Sunday at Tinker Field. Expect multiple stages of music, full-sized carnival rides, 500 theatrical performers, a vendor village, interactive art installations, and people in various states of costume, and my favorite, the $40 rentable locker in which to store your purse and charge your phone.
And as always, Orlando is wonderful.
