FDLE Arrests Former Childcare Case Worker

Police have arrested a former child welfare caseworker for falsifying home visit records in the case of Sanford toddler whose body was later found in a shallow grave.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement officers arrested 27 year old Jonathan Irizarry on charges he falsified an official record contributing to the great bodily harm or death of an individual in the care of a state agency.

Irizarry was a dependency case manager for the Childrens’ Home of Central Florida, and was supervising Rachel Fryer’s three children.

He documented checking the children on January 23rd and February 6th this year, noting the children were free of bruises.

But FDLE says a photo on Fryer’s phone from January 19th showed her two year old daughter had a bruised and swollen eye and one arm in a sling.

The toddler’s body was discovered on February 11th in a shallow grave in Crescent City Florida.

A postmortem examination showed multiple healing injuries including cuts, bruises, cigarette burns and bite marks.

Fryer is charged with her murder.
