What is dragon boating? It is twenty paddlers moving in unison, paddling together inside a long boat whose elaborate design originates in ancient China. See bunches of them race in multiple heats all day long, watch live entertainment, shop from a ton of vendors, drink at the beer garden and eat at a slew of food trucks Saturday 6 to 6 at the Dragon Boat Festival at Bill Frederick Park, 3401 South Hiawassee Road in Orlando.
Do some serious plant shopping from 40 Florida plant vendors, climb 40 feet and sit inside the nook of a giant oak tree, listen to a three-member lederhosen ensemble performing authentic German music, eat German food, drink craft beers, enjoy children’s activities, live carillon music and guest speakers at the sixth annual Boktober Fest Sunday 8 to 5 at Bok Tower Gardens at 1151 Tower Blvd in Lake Wales.
Want something closer to home and less involved? Sample beer and listen to the Central Florida Accordion Club at Booktoberfest, tonight at 6:30 at the Downtown Public Library at 101 East Central Boulevard in downtown Orlando.
The 26th Annual Florida Skunk Show, puts skunk against skunk to win the Grand National Champion title Saturday 10 to 5 inside the Ramada Gateway at 7470 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. Admission is two dollars.
And as always, Orlando is wonderful.
