Hundreds of designer bridal gowns in a wide range of sizes, styles and designers for a fraction of their normal price, along with an assortment of bridal accessories, shoes & veils will be for sale at the MIX105.1 Pink Pop-Up Pavilion aka a giant trailer you walk through, parked at the Southern Women’s Show at the Orange County Convention Center now until Sunday, 10 to 7. The Southern Women’s Show is not free, but it’s cheap. The money raised from the gowns goes towards Brides Against Breast Cancer.
When you think of John Cougar Mellencamp, one thought comes to mind: you’re old, and he is now a visual artist. Yes, the writer of “Jack and Diane” is now the painter of… paintings. See them this weekend at the Museum of Art in Downtown Deland at 100 North Woodland Boulevard. The show runs until late December.
A new foodie event is being birthed from the hips of Urban Pet Magazine this Saturday afternoon called Barks and Burgers. It’s a burger festival. Say no more, right? Right. Local and chain restaurateurs and backyard wannabes go head-to-head in a competition-style feast, while guests eat their faces off, play with their dogs, listen to live music and shop an array of vendors: sounds like the perfect Saturday to me. And I will actually be there as one of the Judges along with Sandra Pedicini from the Orlando Sentinel and Tim Barber from WFTV. Barks and Burgers takes place Saturday 11 to 5 at Festival Park at 2911 E Robinson Street.
And as always, Orlando is wonderful.
